AN alleged bag snatcher accused of murdering Bolton-born costume designer Elizabeth Sherlock shouted "drive, drive" when she got into her lover's getaway car -- moments before it ran the woman over, the Old Bailey was told.

Jackie Moorhouse allegedly told a social worker that she panicked and was scared after taking Mrs Sherlock's handbag at a cafe in Euston station and being chased.

Mrs Sherlock jumped on to the bonnet of the white Ford Fiesta after giving chase. She had been in a station cafe with her husband waiting for a train to Lancashire on Easter Monday.

She died from multiple injuries after falling under the car as it drove off.

Moorhouse later allegedly told social worker Sharon Richards that she felt responsible in some way, "but the woman should have known they were drug users by their appearance", Mrs Richards told the court.

"She said she said drive, drive' when she got into the car. She felt the woman was angry that she had had her bag stolen before."

Mark Woolley, 36, from Pentonville, and Moorhouse, 24, from West Hampstead, both north London, deny murdering Mrs Sherlock on April 16.

Woolley has admitted manslaughter, but denies theft of a shoulder bag. Moorhouse denies manslaughter.

Mrs Richards, of Camden Council social services, had gone to see Moorhouse in prison after she and her lover were accused of murdering 42-year-old Mrs Sherlock.

She said she went to discuss care proceedings in connection with her young son.

They had a "fairly long talk" in which Moorhouse told her she wanted to change her lifestyle.

"She did not think she would be charged as she only stole the handbag. She said she went to get the handbag and the woman chased her," said Mrs Richards. "She said she ran to the car and Mark was asleep and she panicked and told him to drive.

"She said she would see the woman's face and she looked very angry. She could see the woman's face through the windscreen."
