THE frost wiped out most of the Bolton Sunday League programme but Hare and Hounds, Breightmet turned the heat on to their rivals with a stunning goal show.
They came up against Little Hulton Cricket Club in the only Division Two game to be played but what a celebration it turned out to be for Hounds' manager Alex Porteus.
He toasted a "double six" on the day as his side hit half a dozen goals in an impressive 6-2 win over the table-topping cricketers, and that turned out to be a perfect sixth birthday present for his daughter Amelia.
It was also a personal success for hit-man Tony Wallbank, who led the way with a five goal show with Eddie McAfee adding the other.
Tony Cooper got both goals for the shocked losers.
Three of the four quarter final ties in the BSL Open Cup sponsored by Bob Hazledine of Bob In, Radcliffe survived the weather.
A Tony Ashbury brace and a goal from Dave Hanley earned Griffin a 3-0 away win at Tonge United while Jolly Waggoner and Seven Stars fought a real humdinger.
The home team finished on top in a 5-4 thriller as Kevin Warrington got a hat-trick plus opne each from Keith Booth and Paul Roscoewith Seven Stars' scorers named as Wayne Everitt, Nick Wallington, John Schofield and Carl Wallington.
It needed extra time to decide a winner between North West Paper and Doffcocker as the two finished tied on 3-3 after 90 minutes.
The extra period saw Doffcocker move up a gear for a 7-5 win. The losers' scorers were Craig Conway (2), James Hall, Ray Foy and Carl Toliday.
