MOORSIDE Rangers Under 12s played host to Roach Dynamo and, in an exciting encounter, Roach returned with the points.
The visitors scored in the very first minute through Chris Mann after some neat play. Rangers were hit a severe blow just before the break, losing the influential centre-half Robbie Coleman with a rib injury. But, just after the restart, Rangers pulled level with a well-taken effort from James Barrett.
Then the referee spiced the game by awarding two quick penalties, one to either team. Chris Mann put Roach back in front with his spot kick, only for Thomas Kay to level things up within minutes also from the spot. Man of the match, Chris Mann, completed his hat-trick with a wonder goal from such a young player. He broke away down the inside-right channel and, as the Rangers' keeper advanced off his line, Mann looked up and floated a delightful chip over him and into the net from outside the area to make the score 3-2 for Roach.
Peter Hillingworth had an outstanding game for Roach Dynamo Under 13s, helping them to their first win of the season against Bury Rangers. Simon Carney hit a hat-trick and Brent Miller a brace, with Hillingworth taking the Man of the Match award.
Danny Thompson hit a brace to help Roach Under 14s into the quarter finals of the LFA County Youth Cup with a 2-1 win against Holders Standish.
North Walkden Under 15s took on table-topping Little Hulton and put in a good display before going down 2-3 in this local derby at Amblecote Playing Fields. Little Hulton led 2-0 at the break after a Mark Finlay brace in a good first half where North Walkden missed from the spot. In the second period, Walkden got back into the game with a well-taken goal from Adam Lord. Little Hulton hit back through James Thompson to restore their two-goal advantage, but the home side wasn't finished and, near the end, Kyle Berry hit a second for Walkden to close the gap, but the visitors hung on to take the points.
Rob Hayes hit nine goals and Will Kirkman, eight, as Astley Bridge Under 15s ran amok in the game against Radcliffe Boro. Boro's only consolation was to end Astley's clean sheet record, as they hadn't conceded a goal since the beginning of November.
Andy Byrne hit all four goals, as unbeaten Boothstown Under 16s had a narrow 4-3 victory against a determined Westbury side.
