I AM writing with regard to the planned closure of Longsight School, Harwood.
I myself am a parent of a six year old boy who does not actually attend the school, but I think that the closure of a school that has so much going for it would be a crying shame.
A lot of parents rely on the after school club to look after their children until they get home from work, and if the parents of this school lost that facility then I think that possibly some parents would have to give up work as a result of this, and this could go on to cause no end of problems in the home.
Also the results of the SATs must prove that the way the school teaches its children is working, and if the children were to change schools who can say what damage may be done. For instance, the new school may have a totally different way of teaching, therefore this could confuse the children.
The time taken to get to the new school will alter as it is quite a distance from Longsight, and this again could cause problems for parents getting to and from school, especially if they have younger children as well.
So I hope I have outlined my concerns for the planned closure of this school, and the sympathy I have for the parents of the children that go there.
