SHOPWORKERS union USDAW has welcomed the decision by the House of Lords to pass a bill to keep all large shops closed on Christmas Day.
General secretary Bill Connor said: "Year on year more and more shops are opening their doors on December 25, leading to our members being forced into work on the most special day of the year."
The bill now faces a vote in the House of Commons next year.
