SIMON Charlton has added to Wanderers' injury woes as they prepare for tomorrow night's delayed fourth round FA Cup tie at Spurs.
The left back hurt his knee in Saturday's 3-2 defeat at Newcastle and is doubtful for the White Hart Lane clash, which was postponed 10 days ago because of a waterlogged pitch.
Michael Ricketts also jarred his knee at St James' Park but he is expected to be fit for the cup tie.
Charlton's problem threatens to stretch Sam Allardyce's defensive resources to breaking point with Colin Hendry and Paul Warhurst already ruled out and Bruno N'Gotty having failed a fitness test on an ankle injury at the weekend, forcing him to miss out on the Newcastle game.
The manager, who has made no secret of his determination to focus almost exclusively on Premiership survival, says circumstances will prevent him making changes out of choice as Wanderers look to avenge their two December defeats at White Hart Lane - 3-2 in the Premiership and 6-0 in the Worthington Cup.
"There are no changes to make because I have no fit players to make them with," he explained.
Such was his manpower shortage on Saturday that Allardyce was forced to name Gerald Forechelet as one of his substitutes just 24 hours after the 20-year-old midfielder completed his transfer from Cannes and after saying he was too inexperienced to throw into such an important game.
"He was only on the bench because I had no other players available with defensive qualities," the manager said. "Dean Holdsworth, Bo Hansen and Henrik Pedersen are all attack-minded players."
With Forechelet unavailable for the Spurs game because he was not registered in time, Allardyce has called young defender Wayne Buchanan into his squad.
