LACK of lighting along a popular passageway has left women and children facing a walk of fear, a Sharples resident claims.
Stephen Cummings says a walkway running between Nevis Grove and Cameron Street is so poorly lit pedestrians cannot see a few feet in front of them.
The situation has been made much worse because the one street light there is, at the Nevis Grove end of the passageway, has been out of action for over a month.
Mr Cummings says visitors to his home in Nevis Grove now either take a different route or brave a frightening 100 yard walk.
He claims gangs of youths often gather outside shops around the corner and Bolton Council has not taken his concerns seriously.
"People are terrified walking up the path. I am not a wimp. I am 5ft 11ins, but I don't fancy it myself," he said. "It is so pitch black that you can't see your hand in front of your face."
A spokesman for Bolton Council said the complaint would be investigated.
