ONLY when it hits you personally -- ie "the parking fine" -- does it really hit home.
All I can say to you Blue and Orange badge holders is bombard the Town Hall. Tell your councillors and Social Services that we disabled people are punished enough (24 hours a day, seven days a week and 52 weeks a year), without the extra burden and heartache of an unnecessary fine.
Our ticket did not have "A" code for the so-called offence, so I had to spend three whole days not knowing my error. This, I might add, I took very badly, because it was the last straw, which anyone who is a carer will be able to relate to.
However, as it was a Social Services error, and having gone through the motions of my right to challenge the penalty fine, I eventually received a letter stating "and as this was through no fault of your own, I am now able to waive the charge and the case is now closed", apologising for any inconvenience caused etc.
Bolton is fast becoming a no-go area. Is it any wonder it's safer, cheaper and a lot less hassle to go elsewhere, as so many of your readers have pointed out previously.
They can't all be wrong.
So what is the next step?
