A BOLTON police officer could be sent to prison today after he stole cash from a charity collection in memory of a dead colleague.
PC Mark Slater, who lives in Bradshaw, will be sentenced after he used the hundreds of pounds raised at the event to go on a family holiday to the USA. The 40-year-old and his former partner, Christine Perry, were found guilty of theft last month after denying the charges. The couple organised a function in November 1999 in memory of Sgt Clive Holmyard, who died of cancer, but no money ever went to charity. Slater and 34-year-old Perry will be sentenced at Manchester's Minshull Street court.
