INVESTIGATORS have declared the salmonella outbreak, which affected 65 people in Farnworth, as officially over.
The food poisoning bug, linked to The Bacon Joint, on Brackley Street, Farnworth, was "successfully contained", food safety experts say.
A further 29 cases have still to be confirmed. Two patients remain in the Royal Bolton Hospital.
Dr Robert Aston, who headed the investigation, said that the outbreak was stopped from spreading across the town in January.
Environmental Health teams worked around the clock to isolate the outbreak.
It is still undecided as to whether there will be any further action taken against the shop owner, Brian Henson.
The outbreak was linked to cooked meats sold over the Christmas and New Year period.
