DANCE music duo Rob Grice and Stuart Connor are on their way to the top after their debut single entered the German charts at number 11.
The pair, both aged 30, met 18 months ago when Rob, a Leigh barber, had a demo of Paradise 2000 played in Reubens Nightspot. Stuart, of Leigh Road, Atherton, was impressed by the track and spent the following weeks tracing Rob to his business, The Barber Shop, in Chapel Street. The two collaborated and formed Paradise.
They recorded I Want Everything which was remixed by songwriter and producer Tim Scrafton and Kenny Hayes, under their working name, Beatz.
The record was played on local radio, but when they were unsuccessful in securing a contract in the UK, they turned to Europe. Their career really took off last September when they were signed to Upbeat Records in Germany, which is part of Music Mail -- worldwide distributors of dance music.
I Want Everything was released on January 7 and went straight in at number 11 the following week.
Rob, of Winchester Avenue, Astley, said it was like a dream come true: "We were elated, running around screaming. It felt like scoring the winning goal in the World Cup!"
Paradise, along with producer Glen Brooks, have secured a UK deal with 50/50 Records and are currently promoting new single, Rising Sun -- featuring Kirsty McCormack, due to be released in March.
Rob has high hopes for the future: "We have more tracks lined up to take the UK dance scene by storm. We want to become one of the UK's leading dance and remix teams."
The single is available from Unique Distribution on 01204 544100.
