A PRESTWICH driver has become the latest victim of the car-jacking terror which is spreading across the country.
The 40-year-old victim was pulled from his car and assaulted in Swinton last night.
The man was sitting in his black Renault Laguna in the car park at Matalan on Westover Street when the incident occured.
A car pulled up alongside him, and his door was opened by two men. They then punched him in the face and pulled him to the ground where they kicked him and demanded he hand over his money.
The pair then climbed into the Laguna, registration R98 NEO and drove off. The car hasn't yet been recovered.
The victim was taken to hospital suffering from injuries to his face and right shoulder.
Detective Inspector Danny Woodward from Swinton CID said: "This was a totally unprovoked attack on a man who was simply sitting in his car.
"Fortunately he was not more seriously injured, but he has been left extremely shaken.
"I would remind drivers of the importance of being aware of their surroundings when in their car, and to keep their doors locked at all times. If you have to park for a long time, ensure you are in a well lit
area."
Anyone with information on the incident, or who has seen the Renault Laguna is asked to contact Swinton CID on 0161 856 5240 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
