THE Commonwealth Games needs you.
That is the message from the event's organisers who still need specialist volunteers.
Although thousands of people have already stepped forward, people are needed for technology support, the IT help desk, voice and data communications as well as doctors, nurses and physios.
Amy Parrish-Rett, Games volunteer manager said: "We are well on our way towards having a total Games work force of 16,000 people but we still need specific skills."
The specialists will work at the Athletes Village and each of the sporting venues, including Bolton Arena, host of badminton, and Rivington, the venue for cycling.
training sessions to provide the volunteers with sports and venue information will take place from January 2002.
Specialist volunteers should call 0870 241 7374.
Volunteers must be aged 16 and over by December 1, 2001, live within travelling distance of Manchester, be able to commit to working a minimum of 10 shifts during the Games, be prepared to attend training sessions and pass a background security check.
