That students can't find the time to work to support themselves -- I don't think this is the problem actually; I think they are too often hung over to go to work.
I, too, was a mature student.
I managed to go to college, with two young children and no support from their father who had just left me.
I studied and worked at night to support us. I bought all my books.
I had no debt because we had no money we didn't buy anything. I chose to study to provide a future for my children. It was my choice.
Students today should count their blessings, life is much easier now.
