A BREIGHTMET man who concealed stolen mobile phones under pebbles near the Pilsworth warehouse where he worked appeared before Rochdale magistrates.
Andrew Patrick Canty, aged 26, of Barchester Avenue, admitted stealing mobile telephones, SIM cards and mobile batteries, worth £580, belonging to Argos Stores.
Canty was given a 12 months' community rehabilitation order, a 100-hour community punishment order, and ordered to pay £118 court costs.
He was told that he was fortunate not to be going to prison.
The court heard that Canty who was employed in the warehouse had hidden items under pebbles at the back of the premises for later collection. Canty who expressed remorse said he had done it because he was in debt and owed money.
