Wanderers' fanatic Christopher Bishop got more than he bargained for when he invited anyone intersted in the affairs of the Reebok to contact his fans' website.
Overnight he became the go-between for a former Italian U-21 international who wants to fly to England for a trial.
"I honestly thought somebody was taking the Mick," he admitted. "but it turned out to be a genuine request.
"Shortly after, I was staggered when a package arrived 'Special Delivery' from Italy with a video and a CV. I've no idea what made him think I could help him."
Not wanting Wanderers to miss out on a possible bargain, he passed the info on to the club's chief scout, Jack Chapman, who was equally perplexed.
"He asked me whether I was the player's agent," Christopher explained. "I wish I was! I quite fancy being 'Mr Ten Per Cent'.
"But I'm happy just to do the Wanderers and the player a favour."
Christopher set up the website "www.bwfc4u.co.uk" to help him with his e-business degree at the University of Central Lancashire.
"When I told my lecturer about the Italian business he suggested I might consider changing my course," he joked.
At the player's request, his name is not being published but he is 27, a left-sided attacking midfield player who played for Fiorentina in Italy's Serie A in the 96-97 season and has also played in Serie B.
"He's out of contract and moving to England," Christopher adds.
"He's asked Wanderers for a week's trial and a reserve team game ... it will be interesting to see how he gets on."
