BURY Council's new standards watchdog has already started its task of ensuring that the highest codes of conduct are maintained.
The Standards Committee has the responsibility of monitoring the day-to-day operations of the council and ensuring that its employees, as well as elected councillors, abide by the rules and regulations which have been drawn up.
The committee of eight, including three independent members, has now recommended that the council should adopt the recently published Model Code of Conduct which has been the subject of intensive consultation and review.
Committee chairman is Cllr Ray Watts and his colleagues are Cllrs Vic D'Albert, Connie Fitzgerald, John Smith and Sheila Magnall, together with independent members, Mrs Anne Brown, Mr James Lodge and Mr Arthur Withington.
