THOSE small four wheel vehicles are a boon to the disabled, and have enhanced some people's lives significantly.
I am, however, somewhat confused as to where they are designed, licenced and insured to go.
The reason I write is to express concern with the use of these vehicles on busy main roads. On two occasions recently I have seen one of these vehicles cross diagonally the junction of Blackburn Road and the ring road near Asda, at a very busy time of day. The manoeuvre was frightening as he was crossing moving traffic, on a totally unexpected line, and his 'scooter' was difficult to see. He went on to drive down Blackburn Road towards town on the main carriageway.
Are they licensed and insured for road usage, or should they be on the pavement, and crossing at the designated pedestrian crossings where there are dropped kerbs?
I think these vehicles are terrific, but their physical and legal limitations should be recognised.
