GUDNI Bergsson plans to "chill out" in Iceland while Bo Hansen visits his old team-mate Claus Jensen in London.
Wanderers have settled for home comforts rather than a sunshine break as they enjoy a week away from the pressures of the Premiership survival fight.
They were given a choice after the Fourth round FA Cup defeat at Spurs left them without a fixture this weekend - a holiday in Cyprus or Portugal or time to be with their families - and they decided not to follow the sun.
"I think it's because we've been so much together already this season," Hansen explained. "I think it is good to just be apart for a week or so and it will be like coming back from a holiday in the summer when we get back together again.
"It gets your mind off football for a week and then we'll come back refreshed."
For Bergsson it is a chance to spend time with his wife and family in his native Icelend while others scatter far and wide.
"We're a cosmopolitan, sort of United Nations squad and the manager gave us the opportunity to go away for a bit of break and spend time with our families," the Reebok captain confirmed. "My family are over here at the moment but we'll be going back home for a few days to chill out because there's some snow there."
Michael Ricketts and new signing Stig Tofting will be on international duty with England and Denmark respectively but for the likes of Colin Hendry and Per Frandsen, who have been ruled out through injury, much of the break will be spent in the treatment room in the hope of being fit to boost the squad in time for the trip to Southampton on Saturday week.
They will be joined by Paul Warhurst, who limped out of the Reebok victory over West Ham after suffering a recurrence of a calf injury, and Simon Charlton who came though 90 minutes but is still being plaged by a knee injury.
"It's just my luck," Charlton joked, "I've got to tell our lass that while the other lads are having a break I'm having to go in for treatment!
"But at least the break will give Paul a chance to get fit and could give Per a chance to be back for the Southampton game because he's been missed.
"We haven't got the largest squad in the world and breaks like this gives us a chance to get everybody fit again."
Sam Allardyce says the break is a welcome one. "We're all glad of it," manager said. "The players are looking forward to it and I'm looking forward to it. We can get some rest in the first week to recharge the batteries because everybody's felt a wee bit weary with the efforts they have put in all season."
