SWASHBUCKLING entertainment is promised when members of Westhoughton Amateur Dramatic Society take to the stage.
The Four Pantomime Musketeers takes place on February 15 and 16, 7.15pm.
It is 1642 and the colourful court of King Louis of France and Queen Aquitaine is alive with intrigue, romance and mystery. Someone is plotting to overthrow the King by stealing the Queen's valuable diamond necklace and causing a scandal.
Who better to save the day than Athos, Porthos and Aramis, the famous Three Musketeers, noted for their swashbuckling bonhomie and gallantry? As the pantomime opens, D'Artagnan has just arrived in Paris with a letter of introduction to join the gallant Musketeers, but will this be enough?
Meanwhile, staff at the Cafe Josephine are eagerly awaiting an inspection by the well known gourmet Egon Toaste.
Other characters associated with Paris, also involved in the intrigue, include the mime artist Marceau Marcel, a famous French detective and one of the gargoyles from the top of Notre Dame Cathedral. But then who is the mysterious Cardinal Fang, and where has he come from?
The Four Pantomime Musketeers is loosely based on the novel by Alexander Dumas, with one or two alterations by script writers Bill Greenhalgh and Georgina Heaton.
It is suitable for all ages. Tickets are £3 for adults, £2.50 for concessions (February 8 and 9), and £3.50 for adults and £3 for concessions (February 15 and 16).
