A STUNNING last-minute strike from by substitute David Eatock snatched a point for Chorley in the UniBond First Division clash in a game which was largely controlled by relegation-battlers Belper.
In fact, the last ten minutes in which Eatock featured were more productive for Chorley than the previous 80 in which any reward for their efforts had looked unlikely.
Apart from a fierce angled drive by Ian Barker which curled just wide, it was Belper who dominated the opening half.
Carl Cunningham almost surprised Simon Marsh with a 20-yard snap-shot and the Chorley keeper palmed a rasping long-range Liam Walshe free-kick for a corner.
But on 44 minutes, the visitors went ahead, unmarked Jamie Eaton heading home Brendan Morgan's cross.
Barker fired over the bar after the interval but it was soon Belper who threatened again. Craig Weston headed inches over and Marsh pulled off a double-save from Cunningham and sub Craig Gummer.
However, the late introduction of Eatock changed the game. Danny Mills fluffed a glorious chance from six yards out but when Mills was fouled minutes later, Eatock smashed an unstoppable free-kick into the net from 35 yards.
And in a frantic finish Chorley could have taken all three points, Belper keeper Andrew Quy denying Ian Leather and Andy Mason.
Their failure to win caused Belper to drop into the bottom two but they looked anything but relegation material.
As for Chorley, they surely need to make more use of Eatock who packs an abundance of talent and vision into his diminutive frame.
