THE milder weather conspired to get the skimmers in feeding mood in the Sunday Open on Doe Hey.
Bolton Anglers member Tony Mayoh fished the pole with pinkies, maggots and pellets to take 9lbs-6ozs for the first place. The ever-present Bob Fearnhead was second with 6lbs-8ozs. Third was Lord Nelson angler Kenny Stewart, who bucked the trend when he fished bloodworm and joker for a lot of little fish for 6lbs-3ozs.
Sections: 'A' Paul Ayres (Rochdale GTI) 5lbs-14ozs., 'B' Gordon Hardman (Guest) 4lbs-10ozs.
In the Wednesday Open Royal Ashton angler John Hanley took first place with 4lbs-15ozs with Bob Fearnhead second on 4lbs-8ozs and Neil Hampson (Bolton Rivers) third with 3lbs-14ozs. The Wednesday matches will continue and there is another Sunday Open on February 24. Ring Bob on 0161 799 4242.
