A LASTING reminder in tribute to a popular councillor has been put in place.
Adlington's mayoress Edna Shone died on holiday two years ago only a month after taking office.
The 79-year-old widow was a popular character in the village having been a stalwart of local politics for more than 40 years.
She had served as both mayor, mayoress and on Chorley Borough Council.
Mrs Shone, who was a former JP, had no children.
She will be remembered in the village thanks to members of Adlington town council who have put a bench with a plaque in memory of her at the corner of Daisy Hill Drive and Chorley Road.
Cllr Jeanette Lowe said: "Edna is still very much missed in the village and people still talk about everything she achieved because she was involved in so much and can never be replaced."
