A CAR burst into flames on one of Leigh's main roads early today.
A man had nearly completed his journey from Halifax to Stone Cross Industrial Estate in Leigh, when his vehicle caught fire on the East Lancs Road due to a fault.
A fire service spokesman said it was believed that a fuel leak was ignited by a spark from the engine.
When the driver smelt smoke he pulled over and fled from his Renault Laguna, before it burst into flames.
No one was injured in the incident at about 4am.
