ROACH again dominated the Saturday Bradshaw Open on No. 4 Lake as another capacity sell out caught good nets of small silver fish.
Conrad Taylor seems to have the knack of adding a few quality fish, with his 15-8-0 taken on dead depth fished maggot and caster over joker at 13m, proving just to good for fellow team-mate Stuart Wardle, who took a steady procession of small roach on long pole for 14-2-0. Fishing up in the water, Roger Gardom broke the monopoly of the full depth men to register 13-0-0 all taken on slow dropping maggot.
Meanwhile, torrential rain and gusting winds failed to dampen spirits as another full house saw Conrad Taylor complete a weekend double at the Bradshaw No 4 Lake Open on Sunday, taking the honours with just an ounce less than his Saturday weight. With two 1lb skimmers proving to be his bonus fish, weighing 15-7-0 from wall peg 28, Conrad again used full depth rigs, using chopped worm. was the successful method. While the wind and rain hampered most of the competitors it still needed almost 8lb to get in the frame. Drawing peg 25 the same as the day before, Roger Gardom went one place better to finish runner up with 9-8-0, just piping his travelling companion Karl Webster whose 9-6-0 was caught from the next peg, fishing long pole and maggot up in the water.
Results -- 1. Conrad Taylor (Ashton Angling) peg 28, 15-7-0 Roach/Skimmers on maggot worm; 2. Roger Gardom (Trafford Angling) peg 25, 9-8-0 Roach on maggot; 3. Karl Webster (Trafford Angling) peg 26, 9-6-0 Roach on maggot; 4. Peter Humphreys (Little Lever AS) peg 31, 8-15-0 Roach on caster; 5. Stuart Holmes (Unattached) peg 24, 7-15-0 Roach on maggot/caster.
