I AM writing with regard to the "proposed" closure of Longsight School, and the comments made by Linda Thomas.
One of these being "that the children are receiving an inadequate standard of education."
As a mother of three whose children have attended Longsight, both past and present, I am in a far better position than her to pass judgement on whether or not MY children have received a "substandard education". My eldest is now studying for his National Diploma in Telecommunication Engineering. My second is taking his GCSEs this year, and has already done his mock exams and been predicted an A* in dual sciences. To quote his teacher "He has achieved an outstanding result in the biology exam!"
My youngest, now in Year Five, has consistently achieved excellent results throughout her time at Longsight. Her progress is totally satisfactory.
I do not consider any of this to be "patchy progress" or being "disadvantaged". I feel Linda Thomas's "selective" comments were totally biased and unjust.
After all, never having visited our school, she is not in a position to comment personally regarding the staff and school.
