IT will be a gem of a day for a couple celebrating 60 years of marriage on the most romantic day of the year.
Betty and Stanley Service were teenagers when they met at a Sunday School dance at Tonge Moor.
The couple married at the former St Andrews Presbyterian Church in Bolton on Valentine's Day and are now preparing for their diamond wedding anniversary.
Betty, aged 82, a former typist, and Stanley, aged 88, a former engineer, live at Eden Lodge in Eden Street, Astley Bridge. They have two sons and two grand-daughters.
Betty said: "We married in war time when Valentine's Day was not as popular as it is now."
The pair will celebrate with friends and family at Eden Lodge.
