A CARE home in Leigh has become the only residential home for elderly dementia sufferers to receive a Government Charter Mark award.
The Heathside Dementia Care Home in Plank Lane was given the Charter Mark -- a much sought after seal of approval for the modernisation of public services -- following a rigorous inspection.
Manager Andrew Feeney said: "Everyone involved with Heathside is delighted with this award and it is proof of all staff's dedication.
"We have been working hard to deliver methods of care which are unique to our home which we believe will become the future of care for people with dementia.
"Already we have had inquiries from other homes and local authorities wanting to share our excellent practice." The 28-place home uses pioneering person-centred techniques.
