WHAT exactly are Bolton council thinking about with regard to Farnworth?

We already have around 20 take-aways in the town centre -- most of them in Market Street. Another three in the pipeline and now a McDonalds -- next door to an old people's home!

There are two issues here --

1. Litter -- Do the council honestly think that putting litter bins outside these shops has any effect? Of course they don't. Try talking to the residents of Church Road, Lord Street, Mather Street and High Stile. These are the people who have to pick up the disgusting mess off their doorsteps every morning. What do the environmental people think about this?

2. Traffic -- As Bolton council well know, there has long been a problem in Church Road/Lord Street with regard to traffic congestion. They have had meetings with the residents about this but nothing has ever been done. There are two primary schools and a nursery in this area and the congestion and traffic jams (as well as road rage) every day has to be seen to be believed. Add to this the four buses an hour going up and down Church Road and you will get the picture. Another large take-away will only add to this problem. What are the Road Safety Officers' views on this?
