LIKE 99 per cent of the crowd at the Reebok on Saturday I was jumping with joy and punching the air to greet the Wanderers first win of 2002.

The match was very scrappy but as Sam says it's the result that matters.

Most of the danger from West Ham came from Bolton mistakes, but a scrambled defence managed to keep the Hammers at bay.

However one problem again stood out which has been evident all season - the Wanderers' defending against set pieces is woeful. On another day West Ham could have had two or three set piece goals when players were allowed free headers.

In one case from a corner there was not a Bolton player within six yards of the West Ham man. Against Man United the defence was caught out twice by the Beckham/Solskjaer combination and we lost the league game at Tottenham to a free Sheringham header from a set piece.

The Sunderland game earlier in the season was lost in similar circumstances.

If the Wanderers are to survive in the Premiership this is one aspect of their game which needs urgent attention.
