THE old Geoffrey Kershaw Centre at Maxwell Street in Bury has been replaced by a complex of 24 new houses and bungalows.
They have been built through the Irwell Valley Housing Association working in partnership with Bury Council, developers Bellway homes and local residents.
Bury Council's executive member for Health, Housing and Social Services, Councillor Mike Connolly, said: "It is great to see that, after all the hard work and thought that has gone into the scheme, it is now providing real homes for local people.
"These houses very much symbolise what is taking place in east Bury."
Irwell Valley Housing Association spokesman John Fedden said: "The old Geoffrey Kershaw site, when fully completed, will have some 24 houses and bungalows, while over on Shaw Street, 39 similar properties, together with flats, are being created."
