CANCER sufferer Bill Lomax is a firm believer in the healing powers of poetry -- and his inspirational words have raised £1,770 for Christie Hospital.
The ex-war veteran, who is now facing the biggest battle of his life after being diagnosed with cancer of the voice box, has raised the cash after publishing a book of his poetry. His words chronicle his experiences undergoing treatment at the North-west's leading cancer hospital.
The Breightmet grandad donated the money to the head and neck research fund at Christie's after selling copies of his book. Further funds were also donated to a war veterans' association.
The books, featuring poetry about cancer from the viewpoint of a sufferer, are now in waiting rooms at the hospital. Mr Lomax said: "I have had a very positive response from the poetry. I just want to thank everyone for their support."
