A BOLTON-educated judge has sent dozens of criminals to jail over the past few years.

But his Honour Judge Mark Brown has revealed how he prefers to put his wife in a spin -- with a spot of ballroom dancing.

The nimble-footed 48-year-old, who was educated at Bolton School, caught the dancing bug while on holiday in Malta with his wife, Jane.

Both have since joined a dance school and have become so good, they have even won a number of medals.

Judge Brown said: "There was a ballroom session at the hotel we stayed in and when we got home we though it would be nice to learn the basics.

"We don't enter competitions but we have got medals for reaching certain standards. It's good fun. You meet a lot of nice people and it's a good way of keeping fit."

Judge Brown sits in Liverpool Crown Court. His hobby was listed in the 2002 edition of Who's Who alongside gardening and golf.
