TEACHERS and pupils from Bolton are bridging the gap between nations.
Schools in Horwich and Blackrod are taking the lead in a new Government scheme, Teachers International Professional Development, which aims to bring schools together from all over the world.
One group is currently in Brunei looking at information communication technology developments. Another has gone to Maryland, USA.
A third group, including sixth formers and Director of Education Margaret Blenkinsop, are in Pretoria strengthening links with South Africa. Some of the town's teachers have already visited South Africa and video conferencing has been installed in the schools, enabling them to continue their relationship.
Schools have also raised money so that students from Atteridgeville in South Africa can visit Bolton on a six-week scholarship during the Commonwealth Games.
