Bolton Council staff have gone "green" with the launch of an ambitious recycling scheme.
The council is aiming to recycle 100 per cent of all its waste paper by re-using paper products wherever possible and buying only recycled paper.
The recycling campaign has been organised to coincide with the "Greening Government Initiative" which has outlined targets to recover office waste. Only a few council buildings will be involved in the scheme initially, including the town hall, Paderborn House, Adelaide House, Wellington House, the Wellsprings, Milton House, the library, Le Mans Crescent, Weston House and the Mayor Street depot.
The council had completed its own environmental strategy last April which resulted in the 100 per cent recycling target over an 18-month-period.
Waste paper will be removed from the targeted offices on a daily basis and collected by local environmental services company, Paperchase.
Cllr Bob Howarth, Leader of Bolton Council, said: "As well as the legislature element, Bolton Council is committed to reducing the use of raw material resources wherever possible.
"The recycle campaign will support the council's environmental strategy and help protect living conditions for future generations."
Anyone who wants to do their own bit for the environment can recycle their own waste through the Paperchase white bag kerbside scheme that follows the weekly waste collection.
