I AM afraid I disagree with Ms Smith and agree with MP Brian Iddon about smoking while driving a car on the public highway.
If police and the Crown Prosecution Service can secure prosecutions on a charge of driving without due care and attention against people driving while eating, drinking, using mobile telephones, then the same must apply to those with smouldering cigarettes in their hands or mouths. Drop one of these in your lap while driving and.......! Well, there is very much an increased risk of an accident and therefore a case for driving without due care and attention.
