BOLTON motorists who use Bolton's pay parking are making a rod for their own backs.
Why do they pay to shop in Bolton? Bolton is surrounded with supermarkets on its outskirts, where they can buy any kind of food, from tinned goods to fresh fish, fruit and veg.
Also around Bolton are retail parks such as Middlebrook, where you can buy anything from a balebin of cotton (Craftshop), to complete house furnishings, plus two supermarkets, ASDA and Tesco.
Motorists can park at ease, no pressures, and NO clock watching. No playing "cat and mouse" with the wardens.
They also have a choice of other towns -- Bury and Wigan, where parking is more liberal.
For a day out there is the Trafford Centre or Southport, only one hour away.
Apart from people working in Bolton, who must use the car parks, I can see, or find, no reason why Bolton motorists need to use town centre parking just for shopping.
