PLEASE listen for three minutes to help people with brain injuries.
On Sunday, March 3, at 7.50am, I will be making a three minute BBC radio appeal on behalf of a group of people I very much admire: young people fighting to recover from brain injury.
Two years ago, in my role as a television sports commentator and journalist, I was at the Sydney Paralympics and witnessed the triumph of ability over disability produced by the determination and the effort of disabled athletes. Recently I visited one of Rehab UK's Centres where the same grit and determination is displayed by people with a brain injury as the charity helps them back to independent life and work.
Each year 100,000 people leave hospital with a brain injury. Through its Brain Injury Vocational Centres, Rehab UK retrains as many as possible for a return to the community.
Please do listen on March 3 when I will be able to tell you more about Rehab UK's exciting and rewarding work on behalf of people with brain injury. Alternatively, if you'd like more information about Rehab UK, please write to me as below.
