A GLITTERING ball at the Reebok Stadium has raised a staggering £15,000 to help the fight against breast cancer in Bolton.
Rio at the Reebok, held last weekend, attracted footballing stars and business people alike. They managed to dig deep at an auction, which saw a signed Bolton Wanderers and a Ruud van Nistelrooy shirt go under the hammer for £1,500 each.
Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce, who hosted the £50-a-head event with his wife Lynne, donated a signed Australian rugby shirt which attracted a £1,000 bid.
"We are thrilled to bits," said Cancer Research UK special appeal manager Christine Blease, who heads the BEN-backed Bolton Busting Breast Cancer campaign.
"We raised more money than we expected -- it was just great."
