A COUNCILLOR has slammed the apathy of people in her village after just four people attended a meeting to discuss the Queen's Golden Jubilee.
Cllr Jeanette Lowe had hoped dozens of traders and members of the public would support plans to stage a Victorian street fair in Adlington due to be held in June.
However, when a meeting was held to discuss the event, only town councillors and four people bothered to turn up despite the meeting having been widely publicised.
Cllr Lowe claims the people who attended the meeting are already heavily involved with work in the community and there were no fresh faces offering to lend support.
She now intends to visit as many traders as possible in the village to ask why they did not show up for the meeting which was held at the community centre.
Chorley Borough Council has offered to help fund the event, but it can only go ahead if enough people want to get involved and dress up in Victorian costume
Cllr Lowe said: "I was really annoyed that more people didn't make the effort and I really feel like naming and shaming the people of Adlington. It's not every day that a monarch celebrates 50 years on the throne. If we don't get enough support then it will be a non-starter which is such a shame."
