PHIL Neal reflects on missed chances in the weekend's 1-1 draw with Reading and remarks: "If it has been a boxing match it would have been stopped at half time." Wanderers got the benefit of a controversial penalty - converted by Tony Philliskirk - after going behind to a Mick Gooding goal. The spot kick was Wanderers' only on-target shot of a game watched by only 3,632 - the worst Saturday crowd at Burnden Park for more than two years.
5 YEARS AGO: November 4 1996
ALAN Thompson and John McGinlay got the goals in a 2-0 victory over Huddersfield at Burnden Park that takes Wanderers six points clear at the top of Division One and installed as 5-4 favourites for the championship. But Colin Todd is still not satisfied. He is in Scandinavia checking out transfer targets and insisting: "November is going to be a very demanding month." Blackpool enquire about David Lee but Wanderers say the winger is not for sale.
