Both teams were reduced to 10 men when Blackpool ref Ken Walmsley sent off Willie Morgan and Latics' player David Shaw for an off-the-ball spat. Meanwhile, Ian Greaves blasted Fulham's star duo Rodney Marsh and George Best for their "nasty" and "niggling" attacks on his Bolton players towards the end of the League Cup second replay at Birmingham when the game was beyond the Cottagers.

HAMMERED 3-0 at home by Fulham and stuck mid-table in Division Three, the Wanderers' players were warned by Phil Neal to expect a new training regime - including afternoon sessions. The Burnden manager sympathised with supporters after one of the worst home performances in living memory. "I'm a fan too," Neal said, "and I'm gutted. They were abysmal from start to finish."

PER Frandsen took a ticking of for his midfield marking in the first half at Charlton but ran the show in the second half as Wanderers came back from 3-1 down to draw 3-3. John McGinlay (2) and Nathan Blake were the scorers, keeping Colin Todd's side three points clear at the top of Nationwide League Division One but it was Frandsen, watched by Denmark national coach Bo Johansson, who stole the show.
