THERE is Nothing Like A Dame -- or so the song says -- and in the case of St Paul's Players (Adlington) it is true in more ways than one.
The company is staging South Pacific for its next production and pantomime dame Michael Dootson has come to its rescue by stepping in to the shoes of a main character at the last minute.
Michael was the dame in the company's Christmas pantomime, and will appear as Cable in South Pacific.
The role had been cast but was vacated in the eleventh hour, so Michael came out of the chorus to take the principal role.
South Pacific has been chosen by St Paul's to celebrate the centenary of Rodgers and Hammerstein. It runs at the Adlington Community Centre from Monday to Saturday, March 4 to 9, 7.30pm.
Tickets, Monday to Friday are £5.50 with concessions £5, and on Saturday all tickets are £6.
They are available from Wendy Salvage on 01257 481910.
