BOLTON Ladies returned to winning ways on Saturday with a win over Manchester Univ. However it was not enough to see them through to the next round of the cup because of a handicapping system, which saw the tie decided on penalty flicks.
Although the students took the lead, Bolton replied with goals from Julie Bluer, Sue Booth and a tasty piece of skill from Zoe Bluer, who slotted home with a reverse flick, to leave it 3-1 at half time.
In the second half, a closely contested match produced only one goal for the students. This took the game into a tense penalty shoot out that saw almost all the outfield players having to take part, the students eventually winning in the sudden death phase. Woman of the match was awarded to Nicky Davies. Final score 2-3.
On Sunday Bolton were narrowly defeated by Manto, with all the goals coming in the first half, including a Claire Russell score for Bolton final score 2-1.
Match ball sponsor was Classic Decor of Farnworth and Bolton would like to thank Adam F Greenalgh and Co. (Solicitors) for their continued support.
