FURTHER to the recent letter in the BEN "What are council doing to our town?," I would like to add the following points.
The proposed "restaurant" would be situated next door to Hollands Residential Home. I wonder how many readers would relish the thought of driving to McDonalds at midnight for a burger, knowing that they are preventing elderly and disabled folk from sleeping?
I understand that the planning department has previously turned down an application from McDonalds in Farnworth. This would have been situated on the Kwik Save car park on Longcauseway. The reasons for turning it down were the increased burden of traffic on an already busy thoroughfare and the location next to homes occupied by elderly people.
