BURGLARS held down a terrified pensioner in her own bed before ransacking her house and stealing cash.
The woman, aged in her 80s, was pinned to her bed by two men before they searched every room in her house.
They broke into the house in Lostock Drive, Bury, just after 9pm last night and entered the woman's bedroom as she slept.
She awoke to find them in her room. She was then grabbed and held down in her bed.
Police say the men escaped with a small amount of cash.
The pensioner, who police have not named, was taken to Fairfield General Hospital in Bury for treatment to severe shock.
Police today pledged to catch those responsible. Det Insp Bill Beddows, of Bury CID, said today: "This was a very nasty attack on a defenceless lady at her home address as she slept in her bedroom. These people need to be caught."
The men are only described as aged between 25 and 30. Scenes of Crime officers were at the house today. Anyone with information is asked to contact CID at Bury on 0161 856 8150 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
