NURSES at Leigh are being encouraged to develop their skills and knowledge in a new drive by health bosses to retain staff.
Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Trust are to launch Nurse Wise, a scholarship fund for trust nurses to encourage them to further their careers by undertaking further training.
Bev Tunstall, practice development facilitator with the trust, said: "We believe the retention of staff is all important and we should support those staff who wish to develop their skills and knowledge to enhance their delivery of care."
Dr Naqvi, consultant cardiologist at the trust, said: "The development and success of this fund portrays an important message to our nurses and staff within the trust about how appreciated and valued they are."
