YOUNG girls are getting into the spirit of the Commonwealth Games by learning about fitness and health.
And the young members of St Paul's 1st Bolton Rainbows have enlisted professional help to guide them on their way.
The all-girl uniformed group, based at St Paul's Church in Astley Bridge, are taking part in a scheme called the Commonwealth Games 2002 Challenge project.
And they managed to secure the services of Bolton Wanderers club captain Mike Whitlow.
He explained his role has a football player and talked about fitness and health to the engrossed audience of youngsters.
The Reebok defender also gave the girls a set of exercises to take part in.
Bolton will play a major part in the Commonwealth Games during July and August when badminton will be played at the Bolton Arena, and road cycling and mountain biking are held at Rivington.
