THREE people had to be evacuated early today after a storage room between their flats was set alight.
Fire crews were called to York Street, Leigh, at 3.45am to deal with a fire in the room between two ground floor flats. The room was destroyed and the two flats and two first floor flats suffered smoke damage.
Two of the residents were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, but all refused hospital treatment. The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.
