BOLTON Angling Centre members and guests went in search of bream when they fished an open match on Clitheroe's Pine View Fisheries, however they found the big slabs in dormant mood and so the BAC lads had to settle for skimmers instead, however they found them in plentiful supply.
Bolton Rivers angler Roland Stansfield fished the pole and caught a nice skimmer of around 1lb-8ozs in the last few minutes, this added to a nice roach bag assured first place for the man drawn on peg 15.
Second place went to Tom Chadwick, who fished peg 7 and the BAC man caught skimmers and roach on the pole with maggot to return 5lbs-11ozs.
'Unlucky for some' peg 13 saw Steve Taylor take third place with tip caught skimmers for 4lbs-14ozs. Section 'A' Terry Crosby (Team USA) 4lbs-10ozs, Section 'B' Joint winners, D. Barnes and D. Hughes 3lbs-6ozs each.
Last Wednesday's Open on Doe Hey saw Bob Fearnhead take the honours again when he fished the short pole. He was forced to come in after pike activity saw the fish off at length, his 4lbs-13ozs was more than enough for the number one spot. Neil Hampson (Bolton Anglers) made second with 2lbs-3ozs and team mate Fred Yates was third with 1lbs-8ozs.
